Econic for renewable heat initiatives

Heat pump systems are cost-effective and can provide up to 4kW of heat energy for each 1kW of energy used to power the system. Providing for effective reductions in heating running costs and reduces carbon emissions significantly.

Heat Pump Technology

All around us there is energy stored in the form of heat. Where is this stored energy? It can be found in the earth, water and air. It originates from the sun and heat pump technology allows for this energy to heat our homes and work places.

Heat pumps are not a new technology and most of us are familiar with it. Refrigerators are the most common form of heat pump and remove the heat from within the refrigerator cabinet, transferring it to outside the cabinet. In basic terms a heat pump moves heat from one place to another place and it can do this even in extremely low temperatures.

Heat pumps are very cost-effective, providing up to 4kW of energy for each 1kW of energy used to power the system. This provides for effective reductions in heating costs and reduces carbon emissions significantly.

Heat Pump Benefits

Heat pumps have a range of benefits when compared to other systems:-

  • They are able to provide heating and cooling
  • The heat is available 24 hours a day if required, regardless of weather conditions
  • There is no requirement for fuel storage
  • No planning permission is required for closed loop ground source systems
  • There is no visual impact for heat pump systems
  • They are a very safe, reliable and proven technology
  • They are a very low maintenance system, particularly ground source systems
  • Designed correctly, the source of energy is reliable, endless and environmentally friendly
