Econic - Renewable Energy Solutions - Capability Statement

Econic is a specialist in ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps and water source heat pumps. We can design, supply, install and commission heat pump systems using a variety of energy collection methods including: horizontal slinky, vertical closed loop boreholes, open loop wells, pond loops and energy piles or thermo piles. We can carry out trial boreholes, thermal conductivity testing and thermal response testing where appropriate. We provide a full design service for heat pump systems including open and closed loop ground collectors. Our in house capabilities include assessments for SAP, SBEM, BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes. We can also advise on low temperature radiator systems and under floor heating.

We carry out a wide range of project types including: domestic heat pump installation, commercial heat pump installation, school heat pump installation, hospital heat pump installation, swimming pool heat pumps, heat pumps for social housing.

We are members of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association (GSHPA) and the Renewable Energy Association (REA) including membership of the Real Assurance Scheme. We are certified heat pump installers under the Microgeneration Certification Standard, MCS. We are also accredited under the Contractors Health and Safety Scheme, CHAS. We are distributors for the full range of Dimplex ground and air source heat pumps.

Econic can help find grants for heat pumps and other renewable energy installations through a number of programs including: Low Carbon Building Program Phase 2 (LCBP2), Community Sustainable Energy Scheme (CSEP), Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT). We can advise on other sources of finance for renewable energy systems including Carbon Trust loans and Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA). Our team strive to have the latest information on other Government initiatives that affect the use of renewable energy systems for example the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC), Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Feed in tariff (FIT) schemes. We can advise on ways to meet the planning and regulatory needs of a renewable energy project through compliance to Part L of the building regulations, adherence to the Merton rule, London Plan or other on-site renewable energy generation stipulation.

Whatever stage you are at in your renewable energy project Econic can help.

           Case study

Ramsgate Library

In August 2004, shortly before it was due to celebrate its 100th anniversary, Ramsgate Library was almost completely destroyed by fire, leaving only the external walls standing. An ambitious plan was put together to rebuild the library inside the original facade and as part of the desire to incorporate the latest technology, ground source heat pumps were specified to heat and cool the building. In May 2006 planning consent was granted and work was able to start.     more ››

           Latest Econic News

The latest Government figures on UK energy trends released today by the Department of Energy and Climate Change reveal that renewable heating and cooling still only account for less than 2% of total heating and cooling demand in the UK. This figure has barely changed over recent years and there has even been some reduction in biomass heat production according to DECC.

Over the same period renewable electricity generation has increased significantly mainly due to subsidies through the Renewables Obligation and more recently from the Feed-In-Tariff....
